Buying art online

buying-online

Not many art lovers are aware about the amount of stunning artwork that is available to buy online in the UK. I was mainly buying from local galleries or local artists in the past until I came across the vast amount of art that is available on the internet. I was surprised to see the amount of artists that now sell online and I guess that is the now the way forward for all these established and budding artists to promote themselves. With a bigger audience for the artists, now we as buyers have the opportunity to a wide range of stunning art at our finger tips. Whether you are looking for corporate art for your company or business, or whether you are just looking for something for your home, you can now buy from a wide range from the comfort of your home. Seeing as there are no gallery overheads, and advertising art online is cheaper, this enables artists to sell their work for a reasonable price. Plus the artwork can be delivered directly to your doorstep.

I have written this blog so I can share my recent experience with people who are looking to buy art online. I have also created this blog so you can share your personal experiences too, and maybe recommend artists or online galleries which others may have an interest in.

I am definitely going to buy some more abstract art in the near future online. I have been checking some websites out recently where you can buy all kinds of different wall art; original art, abstract paintings, Pop art, Fine art, contemporary art, portraits, seascapes, modern art, the list is endless. These are websites for artists to sell their work and all the art is categorised into subjects so you can find what you want. I must warn you if you love art you will spend hours on end looking through these websites, they are very addictive. All these artist gallery websites are from the UK as well. I prefer to buy original art rather than prints as they seem to last longer, and the abstract painting looks more fresher than a print. Here are some recommended places where you can buy art online:

But if you are after a digital print, then there is a wide range of choice, personally there are more sellers of canvas art prints than original art. Personally I prefer original art, because with prints there is always that possibility of the print fading over time. With original art you know it was done by hand and it places more value on the artwork. But if you want to buy digital canvas art you may want to have a look at the following wesbites which have been recommended by friends and family.

Tips for buying art online

Only buy from an artist or online gallery if they offer a refund policy. This way if your not happy with your purchase you can return it and get your money back.  Try and buy from someone where they offer you more photos of each artwork. Atleast then you know what to expect when you receive it in real life. If you are buying art direct from an artist make sure they are approachable by phone. Atleast if you have any problems or queries then your more likely to resolve them quicker by phone. Make sure the online art gallery/artist sends their artwork via a postal service where track and trace is offered. This way your parcel is recorded and it is less likely to go missing via their postal network, and it is also insured for loss/damages. If you don’t have a paypal account then I advise you to open one. Most online art galleries/ artists prefer to be paid via paypal as its quick, secure, and easy. Plus if you buy via paypal, as a buyer you are protected very well and it’s a great piece of mind. I have had my paypal account for years, and I have never had a problem buying anything online, and its proved to be very secure as well.
